The Great Conversation: A Great Books Survey

This year-long course provides an introduction to a selection of the Great Books and guides students through the works of the authors who shaped Western Civilization, beginning in ancient Greece and continuing to our own time. Rather than providing a summary of each Great Book or trying to cover all the highlights, this course allows students to read, analyze, and discuss a key chapter or passage of each selected work. Class discussions, as well as brief contextual essays, will help students to engage the central issues of the text as well as have the opportunity to evaluate the ideas presented from a Christian perspective.

Required Text: The Great Books Reader: Excerpts and Essays on the Most Influential Books in Western Civilization Ed. by John Mark Reynolds.

Meets Wed. 11:00 - 1:00 pm [EST] 10:00 - 12:00 [CST] 9:00 - 11:00 [MT] 8:00 - 10:00 [PST]
